Note:

Due to the nature of work that we do, all employees at OceanGate are expected to fulfill the following:

  • Are authorized to work in the US
  • Have a valid driver’s license and passport
  • Can work autonomously with limited daily supervision
  • Have a positive attitude, are energetic, and have a good sense of humor
  • Are professional, dependable, and detail-oriented
  • Are able to board small boats (Zodiacs) in rough seas
  • Can demonstrate basic balance, mobility and flexibility (i.e. climb a 6 foot step ladder, carry 20 lbs., etc.)
  • Always comply with health, safety and environmental policies, standards, and procedures

Marine Technician

We are looking for a committed and competent individual with the unique combination of strong mechanical and interpersonal skills. The successful candidate will be self-driven, flexible, positive, and willing to work in a small, close-knit team environment; must have the drive to follow through on tasks and be goal-oriented. Competitive salary and benefits/medical package.

Requirements

  • Positive and energetic with good sense of humor.
  • Professional, dependable, and detail oriented.
  • Have current U.S. Citizenship.
  • Ability to work in confined space, fit through 18” diameter ring and be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Must have strong analytical and communication skills and be able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated competence in Microsoft Office and experience with hydrographic survey and charting software packages, including Hypack/Hysweep.
  • Demonstrated competence in operation of half-duplex communication devices.
  • Experience working on small boats and large vessels.
  • Can demonstrate basic seamanship and safe operation of small boats.
  • Willingness to travel for domestic and foreign work, approx. 20% of the year or as required.
  • Willingness and ability to work offshore for weeks at a time as required.

Desired

  • Working knowledge of electrical systems, electronics, hydraulics, oxygen systems, and pneumatics.
  • Knowledge of submersible and oceanographic systems strongly desired.
  • Rigging or crane experience.
  • Open water SCUBA.
  • A bachelor’s degree in hydrographic aurvey, oceanography, marine environmental science or related field.

Key Accountabilities

  • Maintain submersibles and ensure all systems to be in complete working order and in compliance with all technical requirements.
  • Execute the planned maintenance of submersible systems and maintain complete technical records and logs.
  • Install electrical devices and other sensitive components onto submersibles.
  • Carrying out general operations team duties as required.

Shop Technician

  • Have current U.S. citizenship or permanent residency.
  • Ability to work in confined space, fit through 18” diameter ring and be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Must have strong analytical and communication skills and be able to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Working knowledge of electrical systems, electronics, hydraulics, oxygen systems and pneumatics.
  • Demonstrated competence in fabrication of Metal structures, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic systems.
  • Forklift, crane, and rigging experience.
  • Clean driving record and demonstrated competence in backing bumper hitched dual or triple axle trailers to launch marine vessels.
  • Can demonstrate basic seamanship and safe operation of small boats.

Desired

  • Knowledge of submersible and oceanographic systems strongly desired.
  • Class A or B CDL.
  • Experience working on large vessels.
  • Open water SCUBA.
